Niagara Falls, New York is an area rich with history and breathtaking scenery. When the opportunity arose for us to take a whirlwind trip just 6 days before our wedding, we knew we had to take the trip.
Things To Do
If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor adventure, look no more! Niagara Falls, New York has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country! From the raging river to the stunning waterfalls, this area is a nature lover’s treat. Perfectly suited for singles, couples, and families… this is one destination that has something for everyone.
On our trip together in July 2022, we were very limited on the amount of time we could spend and we arrived at night. We started our trip in the scenic Niagara Falls State Park. This beautiful park is America’s oldest state park! The falls are stunning during the daytime, but at night, the waterfalls are lit with beautiful lights that change colors for special events, holidays and to support various causes. The park has beautiful walkways that are paved to allow visitors of all abilities the joy of taking in the views.
Because it was nearly 10:00PM when we visited, we were not able to visit any of the attractions on this particular trip, but in the past, DerDer has visited with her family and enjoyed the iconic Maid of the Mist boat ride, and Cave of the Winds tour of the Falls. For a list of local attractions check THIS site out!
The area is rich in delicious restaurants, luxurious hotels, and exciting adventures! As you can see from the map above courtesy of Google, the attractions in Niagara Falls are very close together. This means that once you get parked, you can walk nearly everywhere and visit all of the sites that Niagara Falls has to offer.
International Adventure
Niagara Falls sits on the border of the the United States and Canada. While you can enjoy many adventures and take in breathtaking scenery from the shores of the USA, you may wish to take the short trip across the Rainbow International Bridge and explore the Canadian side of the falls. Be sure to bring your up to date Passport as well as any vaccine records that may be required for international travel. We chose to stay stateside for this trip, though when we return to the area, we absolutely intend to visit the Canadian side of the falls and enjoy new views.
Whether you choose to stay stateside, or travel internationally, be sure to bring your camera, as this area is one of the most scenic and iconic locations in the nation! Check out some photos below from DerDer’s trip with her family in 2017!
